I recently read a Facebook post where people want to bring their own portable soft shell or inflatable, spa, jacuzzi, hot tub, soft tub, or pool with them camping. One post read "I cant wait to see how this goes over". Knowing full well, its going to go over like a fart in a wooden church pew.
We have the best customers at Triple R. We want our customers to have the best time possible when here. We really hate adding rules or policies that restrict that "good time" they can have when they are here. I have found that when a new rules is implemented, our customers are pretty cool about asking why. And its ok to ask why. So here is why this new policy banning portable spas, jacuzzies, hot tubs, soft tubs, jacuzzies, soft, inflatable or hard shell, is now in place. When you see why, its a little obvious why this one has to be nixed.
I spoke with our Health dept this morning, their position is that we should ban them. There is no way to safely stown them here after hours. Did you know that if you bring a portable spa, jacuzzi, pool, soft tub or anything like them into most parks you can end up having to take it ALL THE WAY HOME immediately?
Why?
Did you know that there are town and State codes that we have to follow regarding these devices?
So here are the HUGE reasons why.
Did you know if anything is found out of State limits with chemistry, mechanical functionality, safety, lockability, fencing, temperature, legally we have to close it?
Did you know that your water can not be dumped on the ground in most campgrounds? (We are not permitted to here, but varies amongst counties, needless to say the chemicals and hot water could kill our grass).
Did you know that your tub legally becomes OUR responsibility?
Here is another issue with them. Unless it can be fenced, locked and approved, its not covered under the campground owners insurance. Meaning, if YOU accidently leave it unlocked, and a child gets in it and drowns when your out fishing or in bed, guess who gets sued? Seeing most homeowners don't have insurance in the millions of dollars, guess who will get dragged into the lawsuit? How much is your child's life worth? And if the campground owner is responsible for the water and all, guess who gets dragged into the lawsuit. Needless to say, every neighboring campers in the row of campers will get sued as well. Just because they can.
Do not be surprised as you see the rules against these pop up at campgrounds all over the place.
But now you know why.
I wish more campground owners would explain to their customers why they cant bring or do something. Its not just opinion some times. There are legal ramifications that only we would see from our side of the fence. And wanting to do something will "NEVER" outweigh the risk of loosing our family owned business or loss of life.
We want everyone that camps at Triple R to have a great time. So we have gone out of our way to add an incredible amount of amenities and more are coming.
Please remember not to bring these to Triple R. We have asked from clarification from the State and our insurance company. But until that is clear, we just cant have the liability.
Camp on!
